Stretching — flexibility and splits with a coach

Doing the splits from scratch, getting more flexible after years at a desk or stretching after strength training — that is what a stretching coach works on. State your goal and format in an order, and coaches will send responses. Or check portfolios and client reviews first, then send a request.

How much a stretching class costs

What affects the price

  • Assisted stretching

When the coach physically helps you go deeper into a stretch, they work with only one person, so such a session costs more than group exercises under their supervision.

  • Studio, home visit or online

A studio has mirrors, a barre and mats, on a home visit the coach brings equipment along, and online they see you only through a camera — each format has its own price.

  • The goal of the classes

The splits or stretching for dance and gymnastics need a separate program and longer work than general flexibility and mobility, and that shows in the price.

  • The coach's experience

Coaches with a dance or gymnastics background who prepare people for performances and competitions usually charge more.

How to choose a stretching coach

  1. 1

    Your age and level

Kids' stretching is built as a game, while with an adult after a long break coaches start with mobility and only then move on to the splits. Ask who the coach works with most.

  2. 2

A flexibility check at the start

Ask how the coach assesses your flexibility in the first class: everyone has their own tight spot, and the program should start from it, not from a generic routine.

  3. 3

    Intense, but not painful

Stretching can feel strong, but sharp pain is a signal to stop. Ask how the coach manages the load and whether they force you down into the splits.

  4. 4

    Health — in advance

Tell the coach about knee or back injuries or very loose joints, and if you are unsure whether this load is right for you, consult a doctor first.

  5. 5

    Timelines without promises

Splits in a month is an advertising slogan, not a plan: the timeline depends on age, experience and consistency, and an honest coach does not guarantee it.

What to put in the order

The more precise the description, the more precise the prices in responses.
  • Goal: the splits, general flexibility, mobility or stretching after strength training

  • Your level: starting from scratch, returning after a break, or you have done dance, gymnastics or yoga

  • Who will train: you, two people together or a child — and the child's age

  • Format: the coach's studio, a home visit or online — and the district, if in person

  • How many times a week and what class length suits you

  • Convenient days, times and payment per class or for a pass
