Diving lessons — courses with an instructor and first dives

Diving lessons with an instructor mean a first dive in a pool, a certification course before a seaside vacation, or the next level after a break. Describe your experience and goal in an order and wait for responses. Or check lesson photos and client reviews, then send a request to the one you like.

How much diving lessons cost

What affects the price

  • A course or a single dive

A try dive in a pool, a full certification course and guiding an already certified diver underwater are different services, priced differently.

  • Certification and materials

The certification fee at the training agency and the manual or online theory are often paid for separately from lessons with the instructor.

  • Gear and tanks

Renting a wetsuit, a BCD and a regulator, and filling the tanks, may be included in the price or charged separately.

  • Pool and open water

Pool entry, a dive fee at a quarry or lake, and the trip there may be added to the price.

  • Cold water

Outside the summer season, people often dive in quarries and lakes in a drysuit, which means pricier rental and sometimes a separate course.

Prices come from specialists' profiles on Nexperity and update automatically. You agree the final price with the specialist directly.

How to choose a diving instructor

  1. 1

    The instructor's agency and status

Ask which agency the instructor teaches with — PADI, SSI, CMAS or another — and whether their status can be checked on its website. Nexperity does not check it.

  2. 2

    Which certification you get

Ask which certification exactly you will receive after the course, where it is recognized and to what depth it allows you to dive.

  3. 3

    Whose gear

Find out which gear the instructor provides and what you should have of your own, and when the regulators you will be given were last serviced.

  4. 4

    The pool first

Ask how many sessions will take place in a pool or shallow water before you go into open water, and where those dives will be.

  5. 5

    Health before diving

Ask whether a medical questionnaire or a doctor's note is needed, and mention any ear, heart or lung conditions. If in doubt, consult a doctor first.

What to put in the order

The more precise the description, the more precise the prices in responses.
  • Who will learn: an adult or a child — and their age

  • Your experience: never dived, had a try dive, or already certified and at what level

  • Goal: a first taste of diving, a certification course, the next level or freediving

  • Whether you swim confidently and have your own gear: mask, fins, wetsuit

  • Where it suits you: a pool in your district, a quarry or a lake

  • When you want to start, whether there is a deadline, and payment — per lesson or per course
