Sports acrobatics and gymnastics — cartwheels, handsprings and flips

Acrobatics and artistic gymnastics — for a child for whom school PE is not enough and for an adult who wants to learn a cartwheel or flip from scratch. In an order, give the age and the skill you want to master — coaches will send responses. Choosing yourself? Look at portfolios and client reviews.

How much acrobatics classes cost

What affects the price

  • One-on-one or in a group

A private session usually costs more than a place in a group, but the coach watches your technique the whole time and spots only you.

  • Tumbling track, trampoline, foam pit

Not every gym has a tumbling track, a trampoline and a foam pit, and the coach may include the rental of such a gym in the session price or charge it separately.

  • Advanced skills

A flip or a back handspring is taught with every attempt spotted — by the coach's hands or with a spotting belt — so such a session may cost more than general training.

  • Competition preparation

Choreographing a pair or group routine to music and coaching at competitions is separate work, priced differently from training for yourself.

  • Sessions at home

A coach who comes with their own mats may charge for travel separately, and at home the work is usually on the basics: flexibility, handstands and rolls.

Prices come from specialists' profiles on Nexperity and update automatically. You agree the final price with the specialist directly.

How to choose an acrobatics coach

  1. 1

    Children or adults

Preschoolers learn rolls and handstands through play, while an adult beginner first needs to strengthen arms and core. Ask from what age the coach takes students and whether they teach adults from scratch.

  2. 2

    Basics first, then tricks

A good coach starts with a warm-up, flexibility and strength, and builds the round-off and back handspring on a confident handstand and bridge.

  3. 3

    Spotting on new skills

Ask how the coach will spot you — by hand, with a spotting belt or over a foam pit — and which lead-up drills they will give before the first flip.

  4. 4

    The coach's sports background

Ask what the coach did themselves and whom they have trained. Nexperity does not verify sports ranks or diplomas, so look at the portfolio and client reviews.

  5. 5

    Injuries and limitations

Bridges, handstands and jumps put strain on the back, neck and wrists. Tell the coach about injuries, and if in doubt, consult a doctor first.

What to put in the order

The more precise the description, the more precise the prices in responses.
  • Who will train: an adult or a child — and how old the child is

  • Experience: whether you have done acrobatics or gymnastics before or are starting from scratch

  • Goal: training for yourself, a specific skill such as a flip, or competition preparation

  • Format: one-on-one or in a mini-group, at the coach's gym or at your home

  • The district where it is convenient to train, days and times

  • How many times a week, and payment per session
