Photo studio rental by the hour — spaces for photo shoots and filming

Photographers rent photo studios, and so do people who shoot on their own: portraits on a cyclorama, a family shoot in an interior set, products or social media videos. Describe the shoot in an order, and studio owners will respond. Or pick a space yourself by photos, prices and client reviews.

How much it costs to rent a photo studio

What affects the price

  • Hours and minimum booking

Spaces are rented by the hour, often with a minimum booking time, and if you book half a day or a full day, an hour may cost less.

  • The space and its size

A large cyclorama, a room with a high ceiling and an interior set with props are priced differently, even within one studio.

  • Lighting and equipment

Strobe and continuous lights, paper backdrops, a green screen or a smoke machine may be included in the rental or rented separately.

  • Weekdays, weekends and evenings

On weekends, before holidays and outside working hours, studios often charge more than on a weekday.

  • People in the room

Some studios set a space's price for a certain number of people, and the photographer, models and makeup artist count toward it too.

Prices come from specialists' profiles on Nexperity and update automatically. You agree the final price with the specialist directly.

How to choose a photo studio

  1. 1

    Shots taken in the space

Look not only at photos of the space but also at shots taken in it: they show its real size, how clean the cyclorama is, and the light.

  2. 2

    Floor area and ceiling height

For a full-length portrait, a group photo or a shoot with movement, check the floor area, the cyclorama width and the ceiling height: in a cramped room the photographer cannot step back far enough.

  3. 3

    Daylight or studio lights

If you shoot in daylight, ask which way the windows face and when the room is brightest; for studio lights, ask whether there are blackout curtains.

  4. 4

    Open during power outages

Check whether the studio stays open during power outages and whether the backup power is enough for the studio lights, not just for the room lighting.

  5. 5

    Booking terms

Ask whether the deposit is returned if you reschedule, how lateness is counted, whether setup and cleanup are part of your hours, and whether there is an extra charge for shooting with confetti or paint.

What to put in the order

The more precise the description, the more precise the prices in responses.
  • What you are shooting: portraits, a family photo shoot, products, video or a podcast

  • How many people will be in the room — including the photographer, makeup artist and models

  • What kind of space you need: a cyclorama, an interior set, daylight or a green screen

  • What equipment should be on site: strobe or continuous lights, backdrops, stands

  • Preferred date, start time and how many hours you need the space

  • Which district you are looking in and whether you need a dressing room or parking
