Brow shaping and lash extensions — find a specialist

Brow shaping and lash extensions: find a brow artist or lash technician to shape and henna your brows, get your first lash extensions or come in for a fill. Portfolio close-ups show the work; describe the look — classic, volume or “fox eye” — in an order, and specialists will send responses.

Brow and lash artists

How much brow shaping and lash extensions cost

What affects the price

  • Classic or volume

Classic extensions put one artificial lash on each natural one, while volume uses a fan of several thinner ones, so it takes more work and material.

  • The look and lower lashes

A natural look is simpler than a “fox eye” or wet look, and lower lash extensions are often charged separately.

  • Lash fills

A fill a few weeks later usually costs less than a new set, and removing another artist's work often costs extra.

  • Brow mapping or upkeep

Brow mapping, when the artist picks and marks out a new shape, takes longer than tidying up a shape you already have.

  • Henna or tint

Henna and tint are different products with different processing times. Tinting is often offered together with brow shaping as one package.

How to choose a brow and lash artist

  1. 1

    Close-up lash photos

Look in the portfolio for sharp shots that show the extensions don't stick together, lie in an even row, and the glue doesn't touch the eyelid.

  2. 2

    Mapping before shaping

The brow artist should first outline the shape with a pencil and show it to you in the mirror — and only then remove stray hairs.

  3. 3

    Length that suits your lashes

Ask what length and thickness the artist recommends for you: extensions that are too heavy can break natural lashes.

  4. 4

    Patch test

If you are tinting your brows or lashes for the first time or have sensitive skin, ask whether a patch test of the tint, henna or glue can be done in advance.

  5. 5

    Sterile tweezers

Tweezers should be sterilized, and under-eye pads, spoolies and microbrushes should be new for every client.

What to put in the order

The more precise the description, the more precise the prices in responses.
  • What you need: brow shaping or tinting, lash extensions or tinting

  • For extensions — technique and look: classic or volume, natural or “fox eye”

  • A new set or a fill — and whether old extensions need removing

  • For brows — henna or tint, and whether to change the shape

  • Where it suits you: at the artist's studio or at your place

  • A convenient time for the visit, and payment
