Pet boarding — at a specialist's home or in a pet hotel

Pet boarding helps when you go on vacation, go into the hospital or are renovating, and there is no one to leave your dog, cat or rabbit with. Compare living conditions from photos and client reviews, or describe your pet and the length of stay in an order — specialists will send responses.

How much dog or cat boarding costs

What affects the price

  • Species and size

A cat, a small dog and a shepherd that needs an outdoor run and long walks require different care, so the price per day differs too.

  • Type of accommodation

A separate room or run, a space shared with other guests, or a specialist's apartment where your pet is the only guest are priced differently.

  • Length of stay and season

The price per day is sometimes lower for a long stay and can be higher in the vacation season and over the holidays, when few places are free.

  • Food and special care

The specialist's food instead of yours, medication on a schedule, and care for an elderly pet or one recovering from surgery are often charged separately.

  • Walks and transport

Extra walks, a bath before going home, or taking the pet to boarding and back can raise the price.

Prices come from specialists' profiles on Nexperity and update automatically. You agree the final price with the specialist directly.

How to choose pet boarding or a pet hotel

  1. 1

    Living conditions

Ask for photos or a video of where your pet will stay: where it will sleep and walk, whether the yard is fenced. If you can, come and see it in advance.

  2. 2

    Vaccinations and parasite treatment

Ask which vaccinations and flea, tick and worm treatments are required of every guest: your pet will live next to other people's animals.

  3. 3

    Kept apart from other animals

Find out how many animals are boarded at once, whether cats are kept apart from dogs, and how a new dog is introduced to the others.

  4. 4

    A trial day

Before a long stay, ask about a trial day or a few hours: it shows how your pet gets used to a new place and new people.

  5. 5

    Supervision and a vet clinic

Ask whether your pet is left alone during the day or at night, who looks after it when the specialist goes out, and which vet clinic they will go to if it falls ill.

What to put in the order

The more precise the description, the more precise the prices in responses.
  • Species, breed, age and approximate weight of the pet

  • Which vaccinations and parasite treatments it has had, whether it has a vet passport

  • How the pet gets along with other dogs and cats, whether it is spayed or neutered

  • Food, medication and routine: how often to feed it, whether walks are needed

  • How many days of boarding are needed and whether the stay may be extended

  • Whether the pet needs to be picked up and brought back
