Children's workshops for birthdays, kindergartens and schools

A kids' birthday workshop is held at home, in a cafe, at kindergarten or in the host's studio: each guest decorates gingerbread or paints a tote bag, makes slime or a candle and takes it home. Pick a host by photos of kids' work and reviews, or describe the party in an order and wait for responses.

How much a kids' workshop costs

What affects the price

  • Per child or per group

The price is most often given per participant. A large group may need an assistant and more kits, so the total cost goes up.

  • What each child takes home

A child takes their piece home, so the blank sets the price: a gingerbread cookie, a plaster figurine, a tote bag or a T-shirt all cost differently.

  • Heating and setting time

For candles and soap the host brings a heater and containers, and the wax or soap base has to set, so these sessions run longer and usually cost more than painting.

  • Aprons, packaging and cleanup

Aprons, table covers and boxes for the finished pieces may be included in the price or charged separately, and so may cleanup after paint and glitter.

  • St. Nicholas Day and New Year

Before St. Nicholas Day, New Year and kindergarten graduations, dates are booked early, and prices can be higher than in an ordinary month.

How to choose a workshop for a kids' party

  1. 1

    Children's work, not samples

Ask for photos of pieces made by children the same age as your guests: the host's sample shows the idea, children's work shows what the guests will actually manage to make in one session.

  2. 2

    Age-appropriate materials

Ask what the slime is made of, what they paint with and whether children will work with hot wax or soap base. For little ones there are no-heat options, such as rolled beeswax candles.

  3. 3

    Edible pieces and allergies

If you will decorate gingerbread or cookies, find out what is in the dough and icing, and warn the host about guests' allergies in advance.

  4. 4

Will it dry before the party ends

Icing on gingerbread and paint on tote bags or plaster do not dry at once. Ask how children will carry their pieces home and whether a design on fabric needs to be set with an iron later.

  5. 5

What to prepare at the venue

Check how many tables, chairs and outlets the host needs, and whether the workshop can be held at a shared table in a cafe or outdoors.

What to put in the order

The more precise the description, the more precise the prices in responses.
  • The occasion and date: a birthday, a kindergarten party, a school celebration or a family event

  • How many children, how old they are and whether adults will join in

  • What you want to make: slime, candles, soap or painting — or the host's choice

  • Where the session will be: an apartment, a cafe, a kindergarten, a classroom or a yard — and your district

  • How much time in the party program is set aside for the workshop

  • Payment per child or for the whole session, and whether aprons and packaging for the pieces are needed
