Career coaching — guidance on building your career

A career coach helps you calmly weigh your options and make a plan when you want to change careers, have outgrown your role or are returning to work after a break. Say in an order where you are and what you want — coaches will respond. Or compare coaches yourself: approach, prices, reviews.

How much a career consultation costs

What affects the price

  • One session or a program

A one-off consultation on a single question, such as whether to accept a new position, and support throughout a job search are priced differently.

  • Resume and LinkedIn

Edits to your resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile may be included in the program or paid for separately; an English version is often charged as separate work.

  • Tests and questionnaires

Some interest or strengths questionnaires are paid: the coach buys access for you, and it may be charged separately from the consultation.

  • Industry and seniority

Supporting a manager or a specialist in a narrow field, where the coach has to know the market, is usually priced differently from a consultation at the start of a career.

Prices come from specialists' profiles on Nexperity and update automatically. You agree the final price with the specialist directly.

How to choose a career coach

  1. 1

    Coaching or counseling

A coach mostly asks questions and helps you reach your own decision, while a career consultant gives advice based on knowledge of the job market. Decide which one you need.

  2. 2

    Knowing your field

Ask which professions and levels the coach has worked with and whether they know the job market in your industry.

  3. 3

    Training and tools

Ask where the coach trained and which tools they use: interest, strengths or values questionnaires. Nexperity does not check diplomas or certificates.

  4. 4

    What you are left with

Ask what you will have in hand: a written plan, resume edits, a list of companies to target. A coach cannot promise a position or a salary — you are the one going to the interviews.

  5. 5

    The goal from the start

Agree at the first session on the decision or plan you should come away with and how many sessions to set aside for it.

What to put in the order

The more precise the description, the more precise the prices in responses.
  • Where you are now: field, experience and seniority

  • What you want: change careers, grow in your current job or choose a direction

  • Whether you need a resume or LinkedIn profile review

  • Format: online or in person, one consultation or several sessions

  • The language of sessions and convenient times

  • Payment per session or for the whole program, and the preferred timeframe
